Preliminary State Competitons

Each state will host a preliminary competition for school, church, drill, and other step teams across their state.  The competition will be split into boy and girl categories.  High school, middle school, and elementary students are allowed to participate in the preliminary state competitions.  The teams will be required to pay a registration fee to participate.  There will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner for each state in the high school categories for both boy and girl teams.  The 1st place winners will automatically be entered into the National Championship in September of each year to represent their state.  The 2nd place winner will be allowed to compete in the National Championship but will be required to pay a registration fee.  There will be a 1st place winner for each state in both the middle school and elementary categories.  The 1st place winners will be given the opportunity to be showcased in the National Championship but will not be allowed to compete.

 

Scholarship Prizes

 

The 3 top-scoring teams for each state in the high school categories, and 2 top-scoring team in the elementary and middle school categories will receive the following Preliminary State Competition scholarship prizes:

 

          High School Scholarship Prizes                     

                       1st Place Prize - $1,000 Team Scholarship                           

2nd Place Prize - $500 Team Scholarship

3rd Place Prize - $200 Team Scholarship

 

Elementary & Middle School Scholarship Prizes

1st Place Prize -   $500  Team Scholarship

2nd Place Prize - $250 Team Scholarship

 

 

How to Enter

 

Any team member may act as the entrant for this completion.  Visit the USA Step official website http://4knowledgeispower.com/ and follow the links and instructions to complete the registration form.  Then, follow the directions to email your completed form and 1 video of yourself and your team performing a step routine that meets the guidelines below, including up to one minute of a team member or members describing how your team sparks your community through service to USAStepcompetition@gmail.com.  If you cannot email your video, email the completed registration form and include a link to your video where USA Step can access it.  You will have the opportunity on the application to submit an optional short description of your team’s community service efforts.  You will be required to provide the following information for each team member: full legal name (no nicknames), grade in school, and projected graduation date for each person who is on your team as well as the school’s name, organization’s name. Please include a copy of each stepper report card. Finally, you will need to indicate the state in which your team is located and submit a completed Form W-9.

 

Note: Your team is responsible for transportation and lodging expenses.  All teams must stay in USA Step’s host hotel during the weekend of the competition.  No exceptions.

 

By entering this competition, you agree that your submission conforms to the video guidelines, performance guidelines, guidelines for attire/appearance, and competition restrictions as defined throughout this document and that USA Step, in its sole discretion, may remove your submission and disqualify your team from the contest if it believes, in its sole discretion, that your submission fails to conform to the guidelines and restrictions.  If time permits, USA Step may contact any team that has been disqualified to allow the team members to correct any disqualifying element(s).
